Brady and Moss

What is with Tom Brady, and Randy Moss, not participating in the Pro Bowl. Is it bad sportsmanship, or do they have a better reason. What ever happened to playing for the fans.

Patriots Football Drills

New England Patriots Football Drills
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Todd_Krueger]Todd Krueger

I spoke with a friend of mine who is a former offensive line coach for the New England Patriots and he told about the types of football training drills that the Patriots use to increase there football quickness, football agility and football speed!

Here are some of the football drills that they use:

Drill #1. The Speed Ladder

Perform one repetition of the drill up the ladder. Following a rest, repeat the same drill back down. After the two reps of the drill, perform the next drill the same way. Give yourself ample rest between each rep to ensure you can move your feet as fast as possible on each rep.

In your speed ladder drills you want to make sure you do one foot, two feet and alternate foot drills. Also you want to do forward, sideways and backward ladder drills. If you search the internet you can find some good ladder training dvds.

Drill #2. The L-Drill

The purpose of this football drill is to improve overall quickness and agility. Football players they learn to accelerate, stop and change direction in short intervals; this drill improves game speed ability.

Another benefit is to test your athletic ability.Incorporating one to two repetitions of this drill two to three days a week is enough to achieve desired results.

Performing only a few repetitions prevents fatigue and allows you to run each rep at top speed, which is crucial in quickness training. My coaching freind told me that these drills aren't meant for conditioning. "Quickness training is pace specific, so you have to train at the pace you want to run."

This is the same drill used at the NFL combine held in Indianapolis every year for the top college football players.

Drill #3. Football Position Specific Drills

Receivers should drill pass routes. Because most routes begin with several steps up the field, a receiver's first step should be off the break. For example, when drilling a five-yard out, work on the steps you use to plant and burst to the outside.

Offensive lineman should drill pull left and pull right steps, as well as reach right and reach left. Linebackers can work slight angled steps similar to the ones taken when plugging a gap.

Defensive backs, like receivers, should drill steps out of the break and not focus on back peddling. As most football coaches know, quickness is your ability to explode on your first step!

For more information about football training drills go to the football coaching websites listed below. If you have any questions or comments, please send me an email.

Entertaining Moment of the Super Bowl

Entertaining Moments of the Super Bowl
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Bill_Pratt]Bill Pratt

The entire of the Super Bowl is not just focused on purely football. Of course, there are the halftime shows, which have been quite great attractions as well, with all the popular musical acts and artists performing.

During the earlier days of the Super Bowl, the halftime shows that were features just consisted of some marching bands of the local high schools or colleges. However, as the popularity of the Super Bowl increased through the years, the potential of exposure has also increased. Because of this, popular singers and other musicians came to perform at pre-game ceremonies and halftime shows. Sometimes, they would just sing the U.S. National Anthem, which is the Star-Spangled Banner.

At the Super Bowl XL, there were a couple of outstanding performances. Stevie Wonder, John Legend and Joss Stone performed at the pre-game ceremony. Aaron Neville, Dr. John and Aretha Franklin sang the Star-Spangled Banner. And at the halftime show, the Rolling Stones gave an unforgettable performance.

Also a memorable performance was the performance of U2 in 2002. It was a special tribute to the 9/11 victims so as the band sang their second song, the names of the victims were scrolled on a large projection screen.

Another controversial halftime show was at the Super Bowl XXXVIII. Justin Timberlake accidentally removed a piece of what Janet Jackson was wearing, which exposed her right breast and showed her star shaped ring. They repeated that it was just a "wardrobe malfunction". That particular game was aired live on CBS and the halftime show was produced by MTV, which was a sister company of CBS under Viacom.

After that, pictures and videos of the incident quickly circulated online. Due to the incident, NFL prohibited MTV from producing another halftime show. The FCC also tightened their controls regarding indecency and fined CBS for $225,000, including the other stations that were owned and operated by CBS. The following year, however, the halftime show was totally uncontroversial, as Paul McCartney performed.
